artless STUDIO is a Vienna-based design studio creating espresso cups as interior objects. This privacy policy explains how we collect and use data on artless.at.
Newsletter: When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you product news, restocks, and studio updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by contacting us. Your email is stored with our email provider and/or as a customer record in Shopify.
Orders: When you place an order, checkout and payment are handled by Shopify. The details you enter at checkout (name, shipping address, email, and payment information) are processed by Shopify and the relevant payment providers to fulfil your order. We receive the order and shipping information needed to send you your cups.
We ask before any of the following runs, using the banner that appears on your first visit. You can change your answer at any time from the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Declining costs you nothing here — the shop works identically either way.
Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) tells us which pages are visited, how long people stay, and roughly which region they are in. It loads on every page, but under Google Consent Mode: until you accept it sets and reads no cookies and does not identify you individually, and we receive aggregated, modelled figures only. If you accept, it sets analytics cookies and those figures become measured rather than modelled. Data is processed in the United States on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding site usage before consent (Art 6(1)(f) GDPR), your consent afterwards (Art 6(1)(a) GDPR). See the Google Privacy Policy.
Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited) is loaded only if you accept. It reports to Meta which of our cups you looked at and what you added to the cart, so that we can show our advertising on Instagram and Facebook to people likely to be interested, and see whether an ad actually led to a sale. For this collection and transmission, Meta and artless STUDIO are joint controllers within the meaning of Art 26 GDPR; the essential terms are published by Meta in its Controller Addendum. Data is transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Pinterest tag (Pinterest Europe Limited) is loaded only if you accept, and only once we have begun advertising on Pinterest. It serves the same purpose as the Meta Pixel, for pins rather than posts. Data is transferred to Pinterest, Inc. in the United States on the basis of the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Legal basis: your consent (Art 6(1)(a) GDPR). See the Pinterest Privacy Policy.
If you decline, the Meta and Pinterest code is never requested. It is not loaded and left switched off — your browser never asks those companies for it, and they therefore never see that you were here.
Our shop, cart, and checkout are provided by Shopify. When you add products to the cart or check out, Shopify processes the data required to operate the store and complete your purchase. See the Shopify Privacy Policy.
Checkout runs on shop.artless.at, a Shopify-operated subdomain of artless.at. Your answer to the banner is carried across to it automatically, so you are not asked a second time: if you accept, the services described above may also run during checkout; if you decline, or simply do not answer, none of them run there at all.
Your answer to the consent banner is kept in your browser's local storage under artless_consent, so that we do not ask again on every page. It holds your answer and the date it was given, and nothing that identifies you. It expires after twelve months, at which point we ask again.
We use session storage to remember campaign/referral parameters (e.g. UTM tags) during your visit. This data is cleared when you close your browser tab.
Google Analytics sets analytics cookies only once you have accepted; before that it runs cookieless. Meta and Pinterest set advertising cookies only once you have accepted. We run no session-recording or heatmap tools.
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Order data is kept for seven years, as Austrian tax and commercial law requires (§ 132 BAO). Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months. Meta and Pinterest retain advertising data according to their own published policies, linked above.
You have the right of access (Art 15), rectification (Art 16), erasure (Art 17), restriction of processing (Art 18), data portability (Art 20) and objection (Art 21), and the right to withdraw consent at any time — for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter.
